28-year veteran of Microsoft, Bharat Shah is Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise Security organization. He leads the teams responsible for making Azure the most secure cloud platform. He also leads security product development teams for user and infrastructure oriented security, incl. Advanced Threat Analytics, Microsoft Cloud Application Security, Azure Information Protection, Advanced Threat Protection, Azure Security Center, and Operations Management Suite Security.
Prior to leading C+E Security Engineering, Shah worked on large scale services and operating systems, including leading the Identity and Security Services Division, Windows NT, and Systems Management Server. He led the BPOS/Office 365 engineering team and worked on Microsoft Update, growing the software distribution service from 40 million to 600 million PCs while simultaneously cutting egress and operations costs.
Originally from Mumbai, India, Shah lives in Bellevue, Washington. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Idaho and another Master of Science degree in Computer Science at Washington State University. He is married with two children and enjoys baseball.
